• <br />• <br />• <br />Lino Lakes Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) <br />Date: 6/14/04 <br />To: Mayor and City Council <br />From: EDAC <br />Howard Juni, Chair <br />Julie Schwartz, Vice Chair <br />Don Gorowsky <br />Fred Chase <br />Jason Helgemoe <br />Harvey Karth <br />Toni Vacha <br />Steve Rymer <br />Kathy Hansmann <br />RE: 2004 -2005 Action Plan <br />EDAC periodically reviews and updates its working plan for economic <br />development to ensure it continues to stay on track with the city's objectives and <br />the mission statement of the committee to: <br />Promote a diverse tax based by: <br />• Encouraging a balance of land uses <br />• Maintaining and encouraging the growth of existing businesses <br />• Actively facilitating the development and redevelopment of quality commercial <br />and light industrial development <br />In the 12 years since the city developed an Economic Development Plan and <br />established the committee, Lino Lakes has seen considerable growth in <br />residential, industrial and commercial uses. EDAC's goal of relying less on the <br />residential tax base is on track with its projections as stated in the <br />Comprehensive Plan, with 8 percent of the tax base now commercial /industrial. <br />In addition, many new jobs have been created, underutilized land is now <br />generating taxes, and residents have more opportunity to spend their dollars <br />within the community. <br />Among the successes the city has realized in economic development: <br />• Apollo Business Park is close to full buildout and much of it is now <br />generating 0/1 taxes for the community. Emtech is the only owner - <br />occupied business to leave the business park in 10 years and it was <br />replaced by Synovis, a growing medical device manufacturer. The park <br />
