• <br />• <br />• <br />Anoka County Multi- Jurisdictional <br />All Hazards Mitigation Plan <br />In December 2004, the City of Oak Grove experienced a major fire in an unoccupied senior <br />high -rise apartment building, which was under construction. The building was a total loss, with <br />damages exceeding $1,400,000. <br />In September 1997, the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Lino Lakes experienced a major fire <br />in the cafeteria that resulted in $1,500,000 in damage. <br />Coon Rapids experienced many structure fires in the past. They have had many house fires, <br />with ten of them resulting in 19 fatalities, 2 injuries and total destruction of the residence. There <br />have been several apartment fires with no fatalities but damage exceeding $2,000,000. <br />Anoka County and its participating jurisdictions experienced 175 structure fires since 1966. <br />These events resulted in 36 fatalities and 3 injuries. The incidences caused a reported <br />$15,041,850 in structure damage and $585,200 in content loss. <br />The likelihood of occurrence for serious urban fires continues to be a concern and the <br />expectation of future occurrences is moderate and the impact is high.
