• <br />Anoka County Multi-Jurisdictional <br />All Hazards Mitigation Plan <br />5.2.2 Mitigation Goals <br />The goals of the Anoka County Multi- Jurisdictional Hazard <br />Mitigation Plan were crafted early in the planning process <br />through a facilitated discussion and brainstorming session <br />with the Mitigation Steering Committee, At each step of <br />the planning process the overreaching goals were <br />reviewed and modified, if necessary, based on any new <br />information that was gathered and assimilated into the <br />Plan. Some additional goals were added based on the <br />analysis of the Capability Assessments submitted by each <br />jurisdiction and feedback received in the community <br />meetings. There are goals established for each hazard <br />identified by the Hazard Committee as hazards that have <br />a significant potential of impacting assets and population <br />of Anoka County and the participating jurisdictions. <br />The following goal statements represent a broad target for <br />Anoka County and its jurisdictions to achieve through the <br />implementation of their own specific Mitigation Action Plans before the <br />44 CFR Requirement <br />44 CFR Part 201.6(c)(3)(i): The <br />mitigation strategy shall include a <br />description of mitigation goals to <br />reduce or avoid long -term <br />vulnerabilities to the important first <br />step. It has been determined by <br />the Anoka County Mitigation <br />Steering Committee that the <br />following goal statements are <br />consistent with the State of <br />Minnesota's current mitigation <br />planning goals as identified in the <br />State of Minnesota's Hazard <br />Mitigation Plan promulgated by <br />MEMA. <br />next Plan update. <br />COMMUNITY GOALS <br />Jurisdiction <br />Goals <br />All Jurisdictions <br />Continue to improve jurisdictional capabilities to prepare for, respond to, <br />mitigate, and recover from natural and technological disasters. <br />Continue participation in drills and exercises to improve response <br />capabilities for hazard events. <br />Continue participation in the National Flood Insurance Program. <br />Continue aggressive fire prevention education. <br />Improve citizen awareness and preparedness education. <br />Improve technological tools to provide development of databases relating <br />to hazard mitigation. <br />Support and participate in cooperative jurisdictional planning to improve <br />hazard mitigation. <br />Review existing codes and ordinances to ensure adequacy in restricting <br />development in identified hazard areas. <br />Support Minnesota Homeland Security strategies to counter terrorism. <br />186 <br />
