Goal 2: Collaborate with Anoka County to guarantee and improve public access <br />of Rice Creek Regional Park waterways for recreational use and enjoyment of the <br />community, <br />Rationale: Rice Creek Regional Park is a unique and extensive community asset. <br />Citizens want this asset preserved and they desire more access points into the <br />park. <br />Strategies: <br />• Identify, develop and maintain new access points to area lakes so that <br />residents can enjoy these unique recreational opportunities. <br />• Ensure the new access points are designed to minimize adverse impacts on <br />lakeshore quality, water quality and adjacent environmental features: i.e. <br />uplands, etc. <br />Goal 3: Develop, maintain, and connect the current and proposed trails in the <br />City of Lino Lakes and Rice Creek Regional Park in a manner that preserves and <br />sustains the natural environment, <br />Rationale: Connectivity among trail systems and between the trail system and <br />Rice Creek Regional Park is desired by the city's residents. <br />Strategies: <br />• Continue coalition among 5 cities and Anoka County to achieve <br />interconnectivity among trails. <br />• As development occurs, require an interconnected trail system. <br />• Provide on -site maps that inform users of the entire system of trails and trail <br />connections. <br />2. Natural Resources and Amenities <br />2030 Vision <br />The unique and extensive natural resources and amenities which are highly - <br />valued and enjoyed by the community including wildlife, wildlife habitats, and <br />other ecologically significant assets have been restored to the fullest extent <br />possible and preserved. This has been accomplished in part through the on -going <br />partnership between Lino Lakes and the Rice Creek Watershed District which <br />provides a conservation -based framework for the city's upland and aquatic <br />resource management. <br />21 <br />
