•
STAFF ORIGINATOR:
CITY COUNCIL
MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
AGENDA ITEM 6D
Michael Grochala
April 23, 2007
Consideration of Resolutions No. 07 -61
through 07 -63 Supporting Applications for
Federal Funding
ACTION REQUIRED: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND
The Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) to the Metropolitan Council is soliciting
proposals for 2011 and 2012 projects to use federal transportation funds. Anoka
County has requested support from the City of Lino Lakes for project applications that
are located in the City. The projects are as follows:
Lake Drive (CSAH 23) from 77th Street to Main Street (CSAH 14) Anoka County is
proposing to reconstruct Lake Drive from 77th Street through its intersection with Main
Street. The project will extend the existing four lane divided roadway through the
project area. This section of Lake Drive is one of the City's highest volume roadway
sections. The project includes the signalization of the Main and Lake intersection.
Lake Drive (CSAH 23) /Main Street (CSAH 14) Intersection Anoka County is also
proposing to submit a separate Hazard Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) application
specifically for signalization of the Lake and Main intersection. This intersection is
currently operating at a level of service F in p.m. peak periods. This funding will not be
needed if the Lake Drive improvement request is successful.
County Road J/ Hodgson Road (CSAH 49) Intersection Anoka County is also proposing
to submit a Hazard Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) application for improvements,
including signalization of the County Road J /Hodgson Road Intersection. This project
includes permanent improvements including turn lane construction for the intersection.
The currently proposed interim project to signalize the intersection is still in progress
and anticipated for construction this year.
RECOMMENDATION
All of the above mentioned projects will provide benefits to Lino Lakes and the
surrounding area. Staff is recommending adoption of Resolutions No. 07- 6lthrough 07-
63.
