CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1D <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Chief of Police <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: March 10, 2014 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Otter Lake Animal Hospital – Contract for Services <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />As part of the animal control services provided to the residents of City of Lino Lakes, the City <br />has contacted with the Otter Lake Animal Care Center (OLACC) for the past 18 years. Our <br />relationship during this time with OLACC has been very professional and meets the needs of <br />the citizens as well as the City by utilizing the provisions of this contract. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />As outlined in the contract for service, the Otter Lakes Animal Care Center agrees to provide <br />the following services: <br />1. Shelter for animals on a 24 hour basis. <br />2. Pick up and transport to the shelter building, during normal business hours, seven days <br />per week upon the request of the appropriate City of Lino Lakes official. <br />3. Animal examinations and veterinary care as required whenever staff is available. <br />4. Boarding for up to seven (7) days. <br />5. Euthanasia and disposal of animals if required. <br />6. Assist in the handling animal abuse/neglect cases in cooperation with City of Lino <br />Lakes officials when necessary. <br />7. Vaccinate all boarders with Bordatella upon arrival at the facility. <br /> <br />There is a complete breakdown of all fees in the attached contract. It should be noted the fee <br />structure for 2014 is the same as the 2013 contract. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval the contract renewal with Otter Lake Animal Care Center. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />Contract with Otter Lake Animal Care Center
