Spotlight on 2030
May 11, 2007
Issue 3
Welcome
to
World Cafe
Advisory Panel works on Goals
and Strategies during World Cafe
Panel spent their evening working in small groups
with different table themes from around the world
The 2030 Lino Lakes Comprehensive Plan Advisory
Panel met on the evening of April 18th to discuss
Goals and Strategies for the City of Lino Lakes.
The draft Goals and Strategies are based on the
2030 Vision Plan and discussions at the March
21st and April 4th Advisory Panel meetings.
This meeting had a unique flavor. A World Cafe
was held where the Advisory Panel sat in small
groups to discuss the Goals and Strategies in
five topic areas. Each table had a theme based
on a country from around the world. Tables
were decorated with the flags and maps of the
countries with a small treat that was symbolic of
each country.
This input was used to modify the next draft of
Goals and Strategies. The Advisory Panel's next
meeting will be on May 16th to continue its
discussion on Goals and Strategies. Below is a
summary of the discussions that were expressed
by the table hosts at the end of the evening.
Community, Residential and
Neighborhood Development
Much of the discussion focused on affordable and
lifecycle housing and where it would go and how
the city could accomplish this goal.
Economic and Commercial
Development
The table talked about the need for financial
incentives for business retention and expansion.
Also, the need for a market specialist was
discussed among other ideas for the city to
become more business friendly.
ml Community Amenities and Natural
Resources
Common sense should be used to conserve
natural resources. Lino Lakes is an attractive
place to live because of the environment, but a
balance between natural resource conservation
development will need to be found.
In Roads and Transportation
An effort should be made to connect
neighborhoods while balancing safety with traffic
movement. Also, new development should be
integrated with the transportation network.
PM Community Facilities
Many of the goals and strategies were common
sense, like keeping the water supply safe.
Members of the Advisory Panel met in small groups to discuss Goals and Strategies on
April 18th at Lino Lakes City Hall.
City of Lino Lakes
Michael Grochala,
Community Development Director
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
michael.grochala @ci.lino- lakes.mn.us
If you have questions or comments, please contact:
compplan2030@alino-lakes.mn.us
