INFOLINK INFQLINK
*OIjflk
In 2010, WSB's IS staff
implemented our
next generation web
mapping application —
InfoLink. The goal of
InfoLink is to provide
the GIS framework
that will be required
by organizations in the
years to come. This
begins with providing
users with the ability
to integrate data from
other databases and
web sites into a single
web application. Going
beyond displaying
data, InfoLink provides
users with the ability
to update and create
data through a web
mapping interface.
THE SOURCE
The Source was
developed to provide
a transportation -
focused newsletter
featuring projects,
current transportation
topics, and highlighting
WSB staff members.
The goal of The
Source is to share our
transportation - related
expertise with our
clients.
OPEN NTIC
WSB started the
program, Open
Microphone, to
enhance our staff's
presentation and
question answering
skills. Communication
is essential an we
expect our staff to
communicate in a
manner that enhances
our client's position.
Presentations occur
approximately twice a
month over the lunch
hour. In some cases,
it is a presentation
that has or will be
given to clients or at
a conference. In other
cases it is something
the presenter has
worked on or finds
interesting but is
looking simply to
improve. Afterwards,
the audience provides
constructive feedback
to the presenter. In
some cases, presenters
have recorded their
presentation so they
can also critique
themselves later. Nancy
Zeigler led the program
development and is
currently coordinating
it with several other
engaged volunteers.
Azzomama
WSB produced
revenue growth in
2010 and maintained a
respectable profitability.
The profits were
reinvested into our staff
retirement accounts
and allowed the
company to replace a
portion of our fleet and
invest in other capital
expenditures to
improve efficiency. To
better accommodate
our increased work in
design build, we have
chosen to increase our
professional liability
insurance to a level of
$5/$10 Million. This is
a significant upgrade
from the $2/$4
Million that
we carried
previously
and will
allow us to
compete for
the significant
projects that we
regularly undertake.
We have increased our
cash balance in each
of the past three years,
which has allowed us to
hire and maintain key
staff that will help us
continue to succeed in
this new economy.
SHARING INSIGHT
Bret Weiss' article
Hiring a Consultant
was featured in Finance
and Commerce Daily.
Todd
Hubmer
was
featured
in an
article
about
Recycled
Rain
in Engineering Inc., a
national magazine.
WSB: 2010 Year in Review 5
