APPLICATION NOTICE <br />The City of Lino Lakes is requesting proposals from civil engineering firms for City <br />Engineering Services. The City expects to select an Engineering Firm who will serve the City <br />for an indefinite period of time, commencing April 2011. As the City Engineer, the firm will <br />be expected to play a proactive role in helping the City Council and City staff make <br />appropriate decisions regarding City infrastructure. They will also occasionally act as a <br />project manager for infrastructure related projects. <br />The community desires to select the best - qualified engineering firm through the RFP <br />process. The ideal firm should have extensive experience in municipal engineering, <br />including public water and sewer systems, planning and reviewing of construction projects <br />(public and private), preparation of feasibility reports, infrastructure design, construction <br />inspection, plat review, preparation of assessment rolls, public involvement and utility <br />studies. The firm must also have experience in designing and using alternative engineering <br />techniques (i.e. green design). The ideal firm will be a multi- disciplined, full- service firm. <br />The City retains the option to use alternative service methods and service providers when <br />the City deems it appropriate. <br />COMMUNITY PROFILE <br />The City of Lino Lakes is a growing Minnesota community of approximately 20,000 in <br />northeast Anoka County, in the northern part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The <br />City operates under the council- administrator form of government. Policy making and <br />legislative authority are vested in a governing council consisting of the mayor and four <br />council members. The City Administrator is responsible for carrying out the policies and <br />ordinances of the governing Council and for overseeing the day to day operations of the <br />government. <br />The city is located within a 20- minute drive of both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. <br />Both Interstates 35W and 35E intersect the city, providing much potential for continued <br />commercial and industrial growth. The city covers an area of 33 square miles. Its <br />geography is influenced by the 3,500 -acre Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve <br />which cuts a large swath through the center of the community. The City of Centerville is <br />also completely surrounded by Lino Lakes. The City maintains approximately 100 miles of <br />streets. <br />1 <br />
