Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 07- 121 <br />Pledging Support for Improving the Physical Accessibility <br />to the Polling Place in Precinct #2, the Centennial Fire Station #2 <br />WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Office of the Secretary of State is currently soliciting grant <br />proposals from cities, townships and counties for accessibility improvements to polling places in <br />Minnesota; <br />WHEREAS, Lino Lakes Precinct No. 2, Centennial Fire Station #2, currently does not have <br />automatic door openers; <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Secretary of State recommends installing automatic door openers <br />as it has been determined that many people with disabilities and older individuals may have <br />difficulty opening the heavy doors leading to the polling places. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city council is hereby authorized to: <br />a) Apply for a grant from the Office of the Secretary of State of Minnesota for Federal <br />funds pursuant to Title II, Section 261 of the Help America Vote Act for the sole <br />purpose of improving access to polling places in this city for persons with <br />disabilities; <br />b) Enter into an agreement with the Office of the Secretary of State governing the <br />receipt, expenditure, reimbursement and reporting of such grant <br />c) Receive and account separately in a manner sufficient to meet generally accepted <br />government accounting principles sufficient to pass federal audit; and <br />d) Expend any sums received in the manner indicated in the grant application and <br />agreement with the Office of the Secretary of State. <br />No further action by a city council meeting is required for actions related to this grant. <br />John <br />Bergeson, Mayor <br />Julianne Bartell, City Clerk <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 276s day of August, 2007. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />The following voted against same: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />• <br />• <br />
