WS — Item 6
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
Work Session Item 6
Date: Council Work Session, October 1, 2007
To: City Council
From:
Gordon Heitke
Dan Tesch
Re: Compensation System Review
Background
The Council has initiated a process of reviewing the city's compensation system. We
believe that it was the Council's intention as well as staff's, to move this project forward
in an expeditious manner. Despite the issue on prior work session agendas, there are still
questions remaining on the scope of the review. Carrying the issue over several meetings
can and has resulted in members being absent for portions of the discussion. In order to
move this issue forward with all members involved, staff is suggesting that the Council
hold a special work session for the sole purpose of this issue. The week of October 22 is
open for the consultant and staff. Please bring your calendars in order to lock in a
date, if the Council chooses to proceed this way.
Requested Council Direction
The Council needs to determine if a special work session dedicated to the compensation
system is needed and desired.
1
