•
•
•
WS — Item 10.
WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT
Work Session Item 10.
Date: November 5, 2007
To: City Council
From: James E. Studenski, City Engineer
Re: West Oaks — Petition to Pursue the Extension of Sewer and Water
Background
A petition to pursue the extension of sanitary sewer and water was submitted by the
residents of West Oaks subdivision in the south east corner of the City as shown on the
attached map. The attached petition received October 25, 2007 by the City contains 30
signatures from 28 properties. All signatures have been verified by the City Clerk. The
properties on the petition represent 47% or 28 of the 59 single family residential lots in
the West Oaks Subdivision.
During the summer of 2006 White Bear Township extended a low pressure sanitary
sewer and watermain system to the northern limits of the Township just south of County
Road J as shown on the attached map. As directed by the City Council at the
March 6, 2006 work session, the White Bear Township project was designed to service
the properties in Lino Lakes shown outlined in orange on the attached map.
The West Oaks area is defined as Low Density Unsewered Residential; it is outside the
staged growth area and is outside the MUSA boundary. Street reconstruction is not
scheduled for this area in the five year plan and the Pavement Management
Improvements of the streets are shown on the attached map.
A feasibility study will need to be prepared for this area to determine on a preliminary
basis, design, cost , assessment amounts, schedule, and other details related to providing
City Utilities to the West Oaks area
1
