• <br />WS -11 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 11 <br />Date: November 5, 2007 <br />To: City Council <br />From: Julie Bartell <br />Re: 2008 Council Meeting Schedule <br />Background <br />The City Council meeting schedule is established each year based on the requirements of the <br />City Code: <br />Section 202.01 Meetings. Sudivision 1. Regular Meetings. The city council <br />shall have regular sessions on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 6:30 <br />o'clock p.m. and if such Monday shall fall on a holiday shall have its regular <br />session the next following day, and adjourned and special sessions at any other <br />time the council may deem proper. <br />The proposed 2008 schedule (attached) includes the required bi- monthly council meetings and <br />continues the current practice of holding a regular work session the first Monday of each month <br />and a shorter work session previous to the 4th Monday of the month council meeting. <br />One regular council date falls on a holiday in 2008 (Memorial Day — May 26). In concurrence <br />with the City Code, that meeting has been moved to the next day after the holiday. <br />One work session date falls on a holiday (Labor Day — September 1). Practice has been to <br />reschedule the work session at the council's discretion. <br />Requested Council Direction <br />Staff is seeking direction as to whether the Council accepts the 2008 meeting calendar as <br />presented. <br />Attachments <br />• 1.
