WS —Item S <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item 5 <br />Date: Council Work Session, December 3, 2007 <br />To: City Council <br />From: Michael Grochala <br />Re: Waste Hauler Licensing Fees <br />Background <br />At the November 13, 2007 City Council meeting, the Council requested staff evaluate the <br />Waster Hauler License Fee as part of the 2008 Fee Schedule. The City currently charges <br />each hauler $75.00 for the first truck and $45.00 for each additional truck. The fee is <br />intended to cover administrative costs associated with the waste hauler program. <br />City staff has completed a review of fees charged by cities in the surrounding area. A <br />copy of the fee information is attached. Because the method of fee calculations varies <br />from city to city, we have included under the third column what Lino Lakes annual <br />collection would be under each city's fee structure. Of the nine cities reviewed, our <br />current fee structure results in collections nearly double what other cities would receive <br />based on the same number of haulers /trucks as Lino Lakes. <br />Based on this information staff does not see a need to raise the licensing fees. <br />Council Direction <br />Staff is requesting council direction regarding the adjustment of Waste Hauler Licensing <br />fees. <br />Attachments <br />1.
