• <br />• <br />• <br />EOC Operations Public Works <br />Debris Clearance /Utility Restoration <br />Immediate Concerns <br />Operations Section Checklist: <br />❑ Report to the Emergency Operations Center or sent a representative <br />❑ Obtain an initial briefing from Incident Command. Prepare an initial report to the Emergency <br />Manager. <br />❑ Assess if a 24hr /day and/or extended operation is needed. Make staffing assessments. <br />Consider mutual aid. <br />❑ Contact and coordinate with private sector utilities on shutdown and service restoration. <br />❑ Manage all public works resources and direct public works operations <br />Debris removal <br />- Assist in search and rescue efforts if requested <br />- Conduct damage assessment and documentation of damage to public infrastructure. <br />- Provide emergency generators, fuel, lighting, etc., to support emergency responders <br />at the incident scene and EOC <br />❑ Coordinate with contractors for use of private sector resources in public works response operations. <br />❑ Periodically brief EM on status of public works operations. <br />❑ Assign public works staff to the Incident Command to act as a liaison between public works <br />operations and emergency operations. <br />❑ Identify hazardous areas that crews will not be able to pass through. <br />❑ Work with police /fire representatives to determine need for barricades at incident site and <br />traffic signs /signal changes for re- routing traffic and safety. <br />❑ Assess need for heavy equipment support for rescue operations. <br />❑ For large -scale utility disruption, designate a liaison to the utility companies. This person <br />should keep you and the PIO informed on time estimates for utility restoration. <br />❑ If debris is blocking streets over a widespread area, work with the "Field Incident Commander" <br />to develop priority routes to be cleared. <br />46 <br />
