• <br />• <br />• <br />AGENDA ITEM 11 <br />STAFF ORIGNINATOR: Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: January 25, 2010 <br />TOPIC: Consider Approving Application for Exempt <br />Permit from Lawful Gambling License <br />(Raffle) for Centerville Lakes Lions Club <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote) <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Centerville Lions Club has scheduled its annual Cadillac Dinner for <br />Saturday, March 27, 2010 to be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Elm <br />Street. <br />Non - profit organizations are allowed, under the State Gambling Statutes, to apply <br />for an exemption from a gambling license if they conduct five (5) or fewer <br />gambling occasions per calendar year. Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 349, <br />Section 349.166, Subd. 2 requires that non - profit organizations applying for the <br />exempt permit notify the city that they are applying for the exemption and receive . <br />local approval. <br />A copy of the application and the results of the background check are on file in <br />the city clerk's office. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Adopt a motion approving the application for exemption. <br />2. Deny the application for exemption <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />1. Option No. 1 <br />
