e
•
The City of Lino Lakes recognizes snowmobiling as a recreational activity enjoyed by many
members of the public. The City is aware of the trails program and of the efforts of the Rice
Creek Snowmobile Trail Association to maintain trails through Lino Lakes.
Regional Trails
Existing regional trails within Lino Lakes are mostly found within Rice Creek Chain of Lakes
Regional Park Preserve. Proposed regional trails include the following:
• Bunker Hills -Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Trail — The trail will connect
Bunker Hills Regional Park with Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve.
There is a small segment located in the southwest part of the city. There is not a
complete master plan for the entire trail. A general alignment of the trail is shown
on Figure 2 -9.
• Central Anoka County Regional Trail — This trail is an east -west trail that is located
in the central part of the county. In the Lino Lakes area it will connect Rice Creek
Chain of Lakes on the west with the Hardwood Creek Regional Trail in Washington
County. There is not a complete master plan for the entire trail. A general
alignment of the trail follows Main Street and is shown on Figure 2 -9.
• Rice Creek Chain of Lakes — Bald Eagle Regional Trail — This trail will connect these
two Regional Park System units. There is not a complete master plan for the
entire trail. A general alignment of the trail follows Centerville Road and is shown
on Figure 2 -9.
Implementation
The Resource Management System Plan presented in this Chapter provides the conservation
design framework for the Comprehensive Plan and sustainable decisions regarding growth and
development. It provides a unified "system approach" to natural resource management and
providing natural resource based amenities, parks and trails which are highly - valued and enjoyed
by the community. This "systems" approach allows the city the ability to leverage several
regulations and funding sources to implement the Resource Management System plan.
Parks, Open Space, Greenways and Trail System Plan
The City will implement the updated Parks, Greenways and Trail System Plan through:
• Acquisition of parks, greenways, open space and trail corridors
• Continuing to develop an interlinking system of parks and trails throughout the city
that connect to parks Tonal arks and trails
9
• Establishing multi - functional greenway corridors (corridors for wildlife, trails, and
surface water management features)
Review and update park dedication requirements to ensure consistency with the updated Parks,
Greenways and Trail System Plan.
2 -39
