Director of Administration interim CA <br />MEETING DATE: 26 April 2010 <br />TOPIC: Safety Policy Updates <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Each year the city's Safety Committee reviews and makes recommendations for <br />changes to the city's AWAIR (A Workplace Accident & injury Reduction) Program. <br />The Committee is recommending the addition of two sections to our AWAIR Program. <br />The first is a Fleet Operation, Procedures and Safety Policy. This policy outlines safe <br />driving procedures for employees who operate a city vehicle or their own vehicle for <br />city business. <br />The section addition is a Contractor Safety Policy. This policy is designed to ensure <br />that contractors who work for the city be properly insured, be aware of the city's safety <br />policies and procedures for reporting unsafe acts. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the updated AWAIR Program with the additions of the vehicle and contractor <br />safety policies. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Vehicle Operation Policy <br />Contractor Safety Policy <br />-24- <br />
