�5 "I A.c F�l�tc e \ a)k JPSSiU✓i <br />Cozi <br />VERSION 2 <br />Council Member introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 10- <br />English as the Official Language of the City of Lino Lakes <br />WHEREAS, the English language is the common language of Lino Lakes, the <br />State of Minnesota and of the United States; and <br />WHEREAS, the government of Lino Lakes can reduce costs and promote <br />efficiency in its roles as an employer and a government accountable to the <br />people , by using the English language in its official actions and activities; and <br />WHEREAS, this Resolution would not prohibit the City from using other <br />languages for common sense, non - official reasons that serve the public interest, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, those reasons would include, but not limited to the protection of <br />public health, and public safety, the promotion of tourism, the administration of <br />justice and the handling of emergencies. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes that: <br />1. That the English be the official language of the government of Lino Lakes. <br />2. Official actions and communications of the City will be made in English. For purposes of <br />this Resolution, "official actions and communications" shall refer to formal policy making, <br />enacting and binding activities of the City. <br />3. The City of Lino Lakes will not expend public dollars for the translation of any <br />documents or publications. <br />4. Nothing in this resolution shall be interpreted as conflicting with the statutes <br />of the United States or the State of Minnesota <br />La(D <br />
