Strege <br />Public Safety Director /Chief of Police <br />DATE September 27, 2010 <br />TOPIC <br />VOTES REQUIRED: <br />BACKGROUND <br />Consideration Accepting a $19,196.88 Citizen Corps <br />Grant <br />Simple Majority <br />The Lino Lakes Police Department is requesting council to accept a Citizen Corps grant <br />of $19,196.88 awarded to the Lino Lakes Police Department by the Minnesota <br />Department of Public Safety - Homeland Security and Emergency Management. <br />One portion of the grant is for training department staff as instructors in CPR so they <br />can then train staff and volunteers in CPR as well as conduct refresher training as <br />required. <br />The second part of the grant provides for equipment and staff time to train and equip <br />Community Emergency Response Team members for utilization in disasters and <br />emergency incidents. <br />This grant also provides for the increase in hours of the Community Resource <br />Coordinator. The goals for the increased time include: support of Emergency <br />Management functions, support volunteer recruitment retention and involvement <br />furthering successful service to the residents of Lino Lakes. There is no requirement to <br />continue the increased hours beyond the grant. <br />The first portion of the grant is $1,750.00 <br />The second part of the grant is $4,696.88 <br />The third portion of the grant is $12,750.00 <br />There is no required city match on this grant. <br />
