• <br />• <br />Staff coordinates enforcement activities with the building inspection department, public safety <br />and city attorney. <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATION <br />Planning staff is responsible for reviewing planning studies, reports and projects prepared by <br />adjacent jurisdictions including towns, cities, counties, watershed districts, Metropolitan Council, <br />state and federal government to address compatibility with local, state, regional and federal plans <br />and policies. Staff also works in cooperation with jurisdictions such as Anoka County and the <br />Rice Creek Watershed District to prepare special planning and feasibility studies in areas of joint <br />interest. <br />Staff also provides the public with development assistance when intergovernmental coordination <br />is required. <br />DATA TRACKING <br />Staff tracks growth and maintains data regarding floodplain information, U.S. Census and <br />demographics, platting, geographic data, and permitting data. Staff coordinates with other <br />jurisdictions to ensure current and accurate information for residents, appraisers, developers, <br />other city departments, financial institutions and public agencies. <br />LAND USE APPLICATION REVIEW <br />Staff provides pre - application assistance to potential applicants to help guide project design to <br />promote consistency with city policies and goals. <br />Staff reviews all land use applications and submittal documents for plats, planned unit <br />developments, subdivisions, conditional use permits, site plans, variances, comprehensive plan <br />amendments, rezoning, conditional use permits, and interim use permits. Staff may attend <br />neighborhood meetings, informational open houses and multi jurisdictional meetings to facilitate <br />the applicants and /or public's understanding of a process or development. Staff writes detailed <br />findings and makes presentations at Planning & Zoning Board and City Council meetings. <br />CURRENT PROJECTS INCLUDE: <br />• Comprehensive Plan Update <br />• Special Area Management Plan (Army Corps and Rice Creek Watershed District) <br />• CSAH 34 (Birch Street) Corridor Study <br />• Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR) Update <br />• Redevelopment /Underutilized Properties Task Force <br />• Zoning & Subdivision Ordinance Updates <br />• Otter Lake Road Extension Study <br />5 <br />
