• <br />• <br />• <br />PROCLAMATION <br />Homelessness Awareness Month <br />Whereas, a total of 747 households with 1,301 individuals were identified as homeless on January <br />27, 2010 of which 490 were children, 49 were unaccompanied minors age 17 or less, and 106 were <br />youth age 18 -21. This demonstrates a forty (40) percent increase in the number of households, a <br />twenty -seven (27) percent increase in the number of children, a twenty -nine (29) percent increase in <br />the number of unaccompanied minors, and a ninety -six (96) percent increase in the number of youth <br />age 18 -21 identified as homeless since the 2009 county; and <br />Whereas, the Anoka County Community Continuum -of -Care, along with the Heading Home Anoka <br />Education Committee, is sponsoring a countywide education and awareness campaign to help end <br />homelessness in our communities; and <br />Whereas, the Anoka County Community Continuum -of -Care and the Heading Home Anoka <br />committees play a vital role in bringing together our communities and establishing needed partnerships <br />to educate residents and support efforts to end homelessness; and <br />Whereas, it is essential that all citizens of the City of Lino Lakes be aware of the importance of <br />ending homelessness in our community and the impact their participation can have on ensuring that all <br />individuals and families have access to a warm, stable and adequate place to call home; and <br />Whereas, this year's event of Homelessness... the Experience, an art expo of high school students, <br />local artists, and persons who are or have been homeless, is a unique opportunity to join forces to raise <br />awareness and achieve the goal of ending homelessness in our community; <br />Now, therefore, I, Jeff Reinert, Mayor of the City of Lino Lakes, on behalf of the Lino Lakes City <br />Council, do hereby call upon all citizens of the City of Lino Lakes to join the Anoka County <br />Community Continuum of Care and Heading Home Anoka committees to help end homelessness in <br />our community. <br />Be it further resolved that the month of November is hereby proclaimed "Homelessness <br />Awareness" month in the City of Lino Lakes. <br />Proclaimed this 11th day of October 2010. <br />Jeff Reinert, Mayor <br />Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br />
