Studenski, City Engineer CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: October 25, 2010 TOPIC: PUBLIC HEARING- Resolution No. 10 -97, Adopting Re- Assessments, Pine Street Paving Improvement Project ACTION REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote BACKGROUND Following the City's action declaring cost to be assessed for the Pine Street Paving Improvements project on September 27, 2010, the City must call for a hearing on the assessments. A letter dated October 8, 2010 was sent to each resident being assessed and a public hearing notice was placed in the Quad Press on October 5th and 12th On April 26, 2010 the City Council approved Resolution 10 -39 declaring the costs to be assessed for the Pine Street Paving Improvements using the estimated amount of $199,250.00 from the feasibility study. The project has been successfully completed and is significantly under the estimate. The total costs including construction, administration, engineering and legal are $169,647.22, which allows for a reduction in the assessments. The unit assessment can be reduced from $9,488.10 to $8,078.44. The costs above are the Lino Lakes portion of the project as the costs to pave Pine Street are being split as a 50% - 50% cost share with the City of Columbus through a Joint Powers Agreement. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends closing the Public Hearing and approving Resolution 10 -97, Adopting Re- Assessment Roll, Pine Street Paving improvement.
