Studenski, City Engineer <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING DATE: October 25, 2010 <br />TOPIC: <br />PUBLIC HEARING- Resolution No. 10 -97, <br />Adopting Re- Assessments, Pine Street <br />Paving Improvement Project <br />ACTION REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote <br />BACKGROUND <br />Following the City's action declaring cost to be assessed for the Pine Street Paving <br />Improvements project on September 27, 2010, the City must call for a hearing on the <br />assessments. A letter dated October 8, 2010 was sent to each resident being assessed and <br />a public hearing notice was placed in the Quad Press on October 5th and 12th <br />On April 26, 2010 the City Council approved Resolution 10 -39 declaring the costs to be <br />assessed for the Pine Street Paving Improvements using the estimated amount of <br />$199,250.00 from the feasibility study. The project has been successfully completed and <br />is significantly under the estimate. The total costs including construction, administration, <br />engineering and legal are $169,647.22, which allows for a reduction in the assessments. <br />The unit assessment can be reduced from $9,488.10 to $8,078.44. <br />The costs above are the Lino Lakes portion of the project as the costs to pave Pine Street <br />are being split as a 50% - 50% cost share with the City of Columbus through a Joint <br />Powers Agreement. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends closing the Public Hearing and approving Resolution 10 -97, Adopting <br />Re- Assessment Roll, Pine Street Paving improvement. <br />
