would have three people_on at a time and pay them a premium rate during the holidays. They <br />would receive their regular pay during the weekend shifts and be required to work so many <br />weekend shifts per year. If this were to occur they would not have to come back to a call <br />unless there was an all station call for a major emergency. <br />Over the last 5 years we have had and average of 8 people respond to each incident. We will <br />reduce that to three AND they can schedule when they are going to be at the fire station . <br />which will take some of the time commitment off of them. <br />While at the station, I will have those on- shift conduct maintenance, training and fire <br />prevention demonstrations. By doing so, I will reduce my overall expenditure for these line <br />items saving the fire district money over all I think it is a win -win and this program will <br />increase the overall experience of the firefighter. <br />In speaking with the Administrators, I would like to start this program in 2011 starting with <br />defined holidays and some weekends such as deer and fish openers. We tend to lose a lot of <br />staff during this time frame. In a few cases this past year, no one has shown up for the <br />incident other than the Duty Officer! <br />On Thursday we will discuss this program further and 1 will bring a copy of the selected <br />holidays and weekends. Again, I believe this is a great way to maintain volunteers and needs <br />to be looked at as a viable way to maintain our volunteers. <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />
