Organization applying and Project Title: City of Lino Lakes, Forest <br />Diversity Enhancement. <br />2. Project Purpose: Plant Diversity has always been important in the <br />management of Lino Lakes Resources. A 20/20 vision plan clearly identifies the Lino <br />Lakes public response as follows: "Sustenance of the natural environment of Lino <br />Lakes through the protection and management of the wildlife, habitats, and other natural <br />resources, and to pass on to future residents a community rich in these resources. <br />Future development is to include equal consideration of economic development and <br />environmental protection." This vision statement fosters a policy of protecting remnant <br />landscapes and integrating man -made features so that together, Lino Lakes remains a <br />sustainable, appealing and life enriching place to live. The Community Forest Bonding <br />Grant will help us to maintain diversity as an important element of the City's desire for <br />sustainability.. <br />3. Project Location Description: The project locations are Boulevard plantings <br />in the Highland Meadows subdivision, and Parks as follows: <br />Lino Park, 10 trees, Behm's Park, 10 trees, Highland Park, 10 trees, City hall Park, 11 <br />Trees, Clearwater Creek Park 21 trees, Wenzel farms Park, 3 trees, Highland <br />Meadows Boulevard 60 trees, Quail Ridge Boulevard 23 trees <br />For the most part, all planting soils are in well drained, fine sand soils of the Anoka <br />County sand plain. Clearwater Creek Park is a type c or d soil that was ripped and had <br />mulch worked into the soil after development. <br />4. Document Public Ownership ( See Attached). <br />5. Project Goals. The Goals of the Planting for Diversity is to plant alternative <br />species to ash trees in park and boulevard areas that have an overabundance of ash <br />trees. <br />6. Methods: As part of this planting the city will establish an opportunity to have <br />public discussion concerning EAB and the City's management policys for EAB. <br />Implementation of our AEB preparedness plan will coincide with the plantings, and <br />public education and discussion of the issue shall occur at the board and council level <br />concerning preparedness direction. <br />All trees will be planted in the Spring of 2011, or Fall and spring of 2012. All trees will <br />be planted using city crews using standard arboricultural practices.
