CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 14, 2005
DRAFT
Councilmember Carlson stated she does not believe a uniform police officer should
attend Council meetings. She indicated she believes the City may be overreacting to the
situation.

Mayor Bergeson stated the City has to be concerned about the safety of staff. He stated
the situation really shook up some staff members,

Councilmember Reinert stated he is supportive of having a uniform police officer at
Council meetings and is willing to add the request to the regular agenda or informally
agree to the request.

Councilmember Carlson stated she does believe in a police investigation and protecting
staff. However, she does not informally support having a uniform police officer at
Council meetings.

Councilmember Dahl stated she does not know if there is a need for a uniform police
officer or not, but if two Councilmembers are requesting it she is agreeable.

Councilmember Carlson stated she did not see this item on the agenda so she has not had
time to think about the request. She stated she does want to protect employees and
suggested having a uniform police officer at meetings when there is a major issue on the
agenda.

No clear direction was given from the Council regarding this issue.

The meeting was adjoumed at 9:17 p.m.

These minutes were considered, corrected and approved at the regular Council meeting held on
January 9, 2006.

(City Clerk
John Bergeson, Mayor oe et dui, ' e B„W
xkFar„tna o f gntKt,4 A
Transcribed by:
Kim Points
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.
