CAL L TO ORDE R AND ROL L CAL L <br /> <br />Chair Rafferty called the Lino Lakes Planni ng and Zoning Board m eeting to order at <br />approxim a tely 6:46 p.m . <br /> <br />II. DISCUSSI ON ITEMS <br /> <br />Jeff Smyser, City Planner, stated the purpose of this m eeting is to discuss tem porary <br />signage, including banners and ot her for m s of te mporary signs used for advertising. He <br />reitera t ed th at th is m eeting is f o r dis c u ssion only, and no decisions will be m a de or <br />regulations adopted as a result of this m eeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Sm yser gave a short history of the discus sion of signage over the past year. He noted <br />that signage has always been an ex tre m ely diff icult is sue a t th e city. <br /> <br />Staff reviewed the city’s existing ordinance regulating signage, as we ll as regulations of <br />other cities. <br /> <br />Kathy Hansm a nn, representative of Fast Break Express, stated that signs are im portant, <br />especially during grand ope nings or special sales. <br /> <br />Erna Olm a n, repres entative of Taco Palace, agreed that bann ers and other tem porary <br />signs are very effective. <br /> <br />Ron Mikolai, realtor, pointe d out that there are m a ny t ypes of tem porary signs, for <br />community events, e t c., that regula t ions will a f f ect. Mr. M i k o lai s t ated th at his bus ine ss <br />gets better results with signs than with other form s of advertising. <br /> <br />APPR OVE D MINUTE S
