Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: April 24, 2006 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 06 — 60 Accepting Bids and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract, 2006 Street Sealcoating Project <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 10:00 a.m. on April 12, 2006. <br />The results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is <br />required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. <br />Contractor Amount of Bid <br />Allied Blacktop Co. $ 129,679.00 <br />Pearson Bros., Inc $ 134,452.80 <br />Astech Corp. $ 148,734.00 <br />Engineer's Estimate $ 118,546.70 <br />The low bid is approximately 9% above the Engineer's Estimate for this project. <br />A copy of the complete bid tabulation is attached. <br />The final completion date for this project is August 30, 2006. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 06 — 60, Accepting Bids and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract to Allied Blacktop Co. for the 2006 Street Sealcoating <br />Project. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution Number 06 — 60. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 06 — 60 be adopted. <br />• <br />
