Crime Prevention Activity Lino Lakes Police Department Crime Prevention Unit continues to be involved in a variety of projects including Neighborhood Watch, National Night Out and Crime Free Multi - Housing. The unit also assisted with coordinating activities such as the Blue Heron Days Community Celebration. Each year Neighborhood Watch Groups continue to be a growing partnership between the police department and the residents. The groups are required to have two meetings per year which are attended by police and fire personnel who discuss subjects relating to crime prevention, fire prevention, child safety, and special units within the police and fire departments. National Night Out was celebrated again on the first Tuesday in August and encouraged community members to show support for safe neighborhoods. This year we had 36 neighborhoods that participated in this event. Members of Police, Fire, North Paramedics and the Minnesota Correctional Facility — Lino Lakes all participated in the event, with one group even arranging for the National Guard to land a helicopter at their party. We encourage citizens to become active in Neighborhood Watch, and become diligent in reporting suspicious activity to the police department. Community Policing Community outreach, education and cooperation continue to be a priority of the Lino Lakes Police Department. Lino Lakes Police Officers are striving to develop additional components of our Community Policing Philosophy that are based on community needs and building partnerships with the residents. Our successes have been measured in programs like National Night Out, Neighborhood Watch, DARE and Citizens Academy. This year we began quarterly meetings with both the retail and commercial businesses to develop a venue where communication and partnerships can be developed and training can be presented that is pertinent to the businesses and their employees.
