•
•
•
STAFF ORIGINATOR
DATE
TOPIC
VOTE REQUIRED
BACKGROUND
AGENDA ITEM I/ 1\
David J. Pecchia, Public Safety
Director /Chief of Police
July 10, 2006
Designating Forfeiture Revenues
Simple Majority
The City of Lino Lakes receives DWI and drug forfeiture funds
from time to time. Based on the State Law and the Department's
Policies and Procedures these funds must be expended for Law
Enforcement purposes. We are proceeding with the upgrade of
the current video security system within the police department.
The project includes upgrading the existing recording VHS tape
format to digital format being saved on a server. The hardware
and software allows us to utilize the current analog cameras
with progression to IP based cameras as we expand to cover
areas other than the police department.
The software included in the project allows for various
recording levels such as during specific time periods, when
motion is detected, or as directed manually. The system will
record both video as well as audio which can be copied to CD
for evidentiary purposes.
Client software associated with this project will allow
monitoring of the cameras and audio from workstations
throughout the department. The project will also replace the
video and audio system in the interview rooms that are
currently out of service. The total project cost is $12,698.
We are requesting that the Council approve the purchase of
the video security system and software utilizing $12,698
from the Drug Forfeiture fund.
