She has studied a wide range of transportation planning <br />and land use planning disciplines, and her coursework included real -world <br />application of these skills. <br />Project Experience <br />Highlights of Ms. Erickson's coursework include: <br />• Using GIS and environmental planning principles to create a 15 -year <br />development plan for Washington County. <br />• Using SPSS software and several statistical techniques to analyze various <br />public policies. <br />• Studying spatial analysis techniques, including mapping and projection <br />basics, database development and management, suitability analysis, <br />location studies, and US Census housing and population analysis. <br />• Using GIS, local planning documents, urban design and transportation <br />planning principles, zoning analysis, benefit -cost analysis, parking <br />requirements and local traffic analysis to design a plan for a land bridge <br />over a Twin Cities freeway. <br />• Studying land use law principles, including takings issues, nuisance law, <br />zoning controls, site plan compliance and PUD standards. <br />• Analyzing demographic changes in the metro area and used various <br />techniques to project population changes. <br />• Designing and conducting a survey concerning travel behavior of <br />students. <br />• Using census data, GIS and neighborhood revitalization theories to <br />conduct housing inventory and make housing recommendations for a <br />local neighborhood. <br />• Studying site planning issues, techniques, process and government <br />review process through preparation and presentation of a site plan. <br />• Using a variety of public involvement tools and techniques to respond to <br />an RFP for a planning and participation process. <br />• Exploring issues related to transit technologies, transit- oriented <br />development, the role of transit in multi -modal transportation systems <br />and transit management. <br />• Developing an understanding of the comprehensive planning process <br />and creating best land use management practices to encourage physical <br />activity for Ramsey County and the City of Falcon Heights. <br />• Incorporating an existing conditions analysis, market research and <br />community input to create a master plan for Penn Avenue in Richfield. <br />Ms. Erickson served as a planning intern for the Dakota County Planning <br />Department. Her work included: <br />• Obtaining public input for the County's transit plan <br />• Writing official mapping ordinance <br />• Writing portions of the County's transit plan <br />• Creating and maintaining a GIS database and map of active and <br />proposed County development projects <br />
