• <br />• <br />• <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />BACKGROUND: <br />AGENDA ITEM 3B <br />Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br />August 14, 2006 <br />Consider Resolutions No. 06 -126, 127, 128 & 129, <br />Approving Special Event Permits for various events <br />being held in conjunction with the Blue Heron Days <br />festival <br />Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required) <br />The annual Lino Lakes community festival, Blue Heron Days, is scheduled for the <br />weekend of August 18 — 20, 2006. Recently, the community festival planning <br />committee presented the City with a final schedule of events enabling staff to review <br />those activities planned for the festival weekend. The Council has already given <br />approval for a permit for the parade and authorization for use of city -owned land for a <br />children's carnival. <br />The City has received four additional special event permit applications for the following <br />events: <br />• Children's Carnival on city -owned land adjacent to the American Legion, <br />August 18 — 20; <br />• Pole vaulting demonstration /competition on city -owned land adjacent to the <br />American Legion on August 19; <br />• Family picnic with food, horseshoe tournament, dunk tank & music outside and <br />on the property of the American Legion at 7731 Lake Drive on August 19 and 20; <br />• Food, fun and games event at the Circle Lex VFW Post #6583 at 7868 Lake <br />Drive on August 19. <br />These applications have been reviewed by staff for compliance with City and fire <br />regulations. Proof of general and liquor liability (if applicable) insurance has been <br />submitted and background information has been verified. <br />The applications and a copy of the insurance certificates are on file in the City Clerk's <br />Office. <br />
