•
•
•
INSERT AFTER PG 30
AGENDA ITEM 4A
STAFF ORIGINATOR David J. Pecchia, Public Safety Director /Chief of
Police
DATE
TOPIC
VOTE REQUIRED
August 28, 2006
Designating Forfeiture Revenues
Simple Majority
The City of Lino Lakes receives drug forfeiture funds from time to time. Based on the
State Law and the Department's Policies and Procedures these funds must be
expended for Law Enforcement purposes. Our goal is to establish a cash reserve
fund to use for the purchase of illegal drugs, flash rolls, rewards for information leading
to arrests and prosecution for serious offenders. We also anticipate using this fund to
pay informants and to proactively pursue criminals active in our community. The
monies from this fund shall only be disbursed upon the approval of the Chief of Police
or his designee. The amount and use of the funds for each transaction will be tracked
according to standard govemmental accounting practices. We will utilize $5,000 from
our existing drug forfeiture fund to establish this account.
1. Approve
2. Return to staff for further information.
Option No. 1
