•
•
The following natural resources stewardship plan describes natural resource restoration and
management recommendations for the various natural community remnants and semi - natural
areas documented within The Preserve's permanent conservation areas. The intent of the plan is
to assist Integra Homes, the City of Lino Lakes, and the future Homeowners Association to
effectively preserve, restore, and manage the site's natural resources in the short term (one to
five years), and to improve the ecological quality and function of the conservation areas over the
long term (years 5 to 10 and beyond) through an adaptive management approach. Successful
restoration and management will likely require long -term collaborative efforts of various
organizations and individuals, community groups, municipalities, and government agencies,
including the residents of The Preserve, the City of Lino Lakes, the Rice Creek Watershed
District, the Saint Paul District of the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources.
As the conservation areas are established, restored, managed, and enjoyed by the residents of
The Preserve and visitors to the site, it is important that local residents and other project
stakeholders be kept well informed and involved in planning and implementation of management
actions, as well as the supporting science, policies, and agreements that support these
management decisions. Such an approach has been demonstrated within similar private
conservation developments and public preserves and open spaces to be successful in helping to
foster a core group of local citizens that are well informed, more involved, and take a proprietary
interest in the restoration and stewardship of the natural resources and cultural amenities within
permanent conservation areas.
The Preserve Conservation Development - Restoration and Management Plan 2
