YOUTH RESOURCE OFFICER <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES /CENTENNIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />SERVICE AGREEMENT <br />This Agreement is made this 14th day of August , 2006, pursuant to M.S. 471.59 by and <br />between the City of Lino Lakes (City) and Independent School District #12 (School District). <br />1. PURPOSE The City of Lino Lakes and the Centennial School District wish to participate <br />in a Youth Resource Officer Program. Both the City and the School District agree that a <br />more formalized approach to the Youth Resource Officer Program is needed to improve <br />understanding and promote mutual respect between police, school, staff, counselors, parents <br />and students. The purpose of this Agreement is to set forth in writing the terms and <br />conditions of the mutual duties and obligations and to create, fund and implement the <br />position of Youth Resource Officer. <br />2. FUNDING The School District will fund the following expenses in connection with the <br />Youth Resource Officer: <br />Officer's salary and related benefits are estimated at $57.,104.64 for the 2006 -07 <br />school year ($54,635.44 for the 2005 -06 school year) (see attached detail sheet for <br />the cost breakdown). This expenditure shall be determined by the number of hours <br />assigned to the school district. The hourly rate for 2006 -07 shall be $41.26 (2005- <br />2006 shall be $39.48). The School District officials and Lino Lakes Police Chief <br />shall determine the specific days/hours of work. <br />3. SERVICES The City shall provide the services of one licensed police officer and related <br />support services and supplies to assist the School District in establishing a Youth Resource <br />Officer Program. The Officer will have primary responsibility in serving as a resource <br />person to faculty, classroom members and school administrators in the promoting of <br />positive juvenile behavior. The School District agrees to provide adequate office space, <br />telephone and other reasonable clerical support services. This officer will not act as an <br />education or related service provider under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act <br />or related state law for any student. <br />4. PAYMENT The City shall provide billing to the School District for services provided in <br />this Agreement on a quarterly basis. <br />5. TERM This Agreement shall commence on the 5th day of September, 2006, and shall end <br />on/or about June 7, 2007. Thereafter, it shall be renewed on a yearly basis by mutual <br />agreement. This Agreement may be canceled by either party by a 30 day written notice. <br />-93- <br />
