RESPONDING TO REQUESTS FOR GOVERNMENT DATA <br />Most of the information, or data, that the City has is classified as public, which means it <br />can be released to anyone. A more formal data request, such as a request for copies of documents, should be <br />made to the responsible authority or to the appropriate designee(s). <br />What kinds of data may an individual request? <br />Anyone may request access to specific types of data or data elements, to specific documents <br />or portions of documents, to entire records, files or databases, or to all public data maintained <br />by the City. <br />Must a data request be made in writing? <br />Simple requests need not be in writing.
