The City continues to participate in the <br />I -35W /E coalition. In September Anoka County committed to working with the coalition to <br />prepare a transportation plan for the corridor. <br />B. Calendar Year 2008 <br />(1) Objective: Prepare an Access Management Plan for Birch Street that <br />includes provisions for pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements <br />a. Key Action Steps: <br />i. Retain professional services to conduct planning study <br />b. Lead party: Community Development Staff <br />Key Contributors: Anoka County <br />Planning and Zoning Board <br />City Council <br />Public Works and Public Services <br />c. Funding Source: General Fund. Primarily Staff Time. <br />May have a cost share with Anoka County. <br />STATUS: Staff reviewing access issues as part of Comprehensive Plan Update. Anoka <br />County has included funding for an access management study in their 2008 budget RFP's <br />for consultant services are expected to go out in March, 2008 Process will include <br />evaluation of pedestrian /bicycle crossings. <br />(2) Incorporate northerly by -pass (Main St. 35W to 35E) into <br />Comprehensive Plan <br />a. Key Action Steps: <br />i. Identify transportation corridor and adopt policy language to <br />recognize future need <br />b. Lead party: Community Development Staff <br />Key Contributors: Anoka County <br />Comp Plan Advisory Panel <br />Planning and Zoning Board <br />City Council <br />c. Funding Source: General Fund. Included with Comprehensive <br />Plan Update <br />STATUS: In Progress SRF the City's Transportation Engineer is currently preparing a <br />transportation analysis model based on the draft Land Use Plan <br />3.
