The grant
agreement was subject to two conditions: 1) the city would not impose annual limits on
the issuance of housing permits connected with the development; and 2) the city
would install a traffic signal on the northbound off -ramp of I -35W to serve the project
and existing development in the city. The city agreed to either have the signal
operational by December 31, 2007 or reimburse the Metropolitan Council. As the Lake
Drive improvement project expanded to include the 35W bridge reconstruction project,
installation of the signal was delayed past that deadline date, and staff requested
additional time.
In January 2008 the Metropolitan Council agreed to extend the deadline for installation
to August 31, 2008. The 35W/Lake Drive interchange project is scheduled to be
complete by June 2008.
This resolution amends the agreement with the Metropolitan Council to establish the
new deadline date.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Resolution 08 -21 amending grant agreement SG -00 -135 with the
Metropolitan Council to extend the deadline of the traffic signal installation.
ATTACHMENTS
1.
