a. "Backflow Preventer" means any mechanical or air gap system designed <br />and installed in order to prevent the accidental backflow of water from <br />one source to another. <br />b. "Lawn Sprinkler / Irrigation System" means all pumps, lines or <br />sprinkler heads which are located on private property or within adjacent <br />public right -of -way that have a sole purpose of irrigating gardens, grass <br />or landscaping. <br />Subdivision 3. Construction of a Lawn Sprinkler / Irrigation System. The <br />location of lines and sprinkler heads for a Lawn and Landscape Irrigation <br />System may be located within private property or the city right -of -way or <br />easement subject to the following conditions: <br />a. A permit will be required for all Lawn Sprinkler / Irrigations Systems <br />installed. The permit cost will be established yearly in the Lino Lakes <br />Fee Schedule. <br />b. If a Lawn Sprinkler /Irrigation System is to be installed by a contractor, <br />the contractor must be licensed with the City and a licensed plumber <br />must obtain the permit and make the connection. If a home owner is <br />installing the Lawn Sprinkler / Irrigation System themselves, they may <br />obtain the permit. <br />c. An approved back flow prevention device must be installed as a part of <br />all lawn sprinkler / irrigation systems. The device shall be installed per <br />manufacturer installation instructions. The type of approved backflow <br />device must be provided when applying for a permit. <br />d. All newly installed lawn sprinkler / irrigation systems are required to <br />have rain sensors installed as part of the system. This is in accordance <br />with Minnesota State Statute 103G.298 and Federal Water Conservation <br />Standards. <br />e. The owner of the Lawn Sprinkler /Irrigation System is responsible for <br />any maintenance or repair of the Lawn and Landscape Irrigation <br />System. <br />f. The owner of the Lawn Sprinkler /Irrigation System signs a written <br />agreement with the city in which the owner agrees to assume all liability <br />and responsibility for damages to the Lawn and Landscape Irrigation <br />System that is caused by city activities, including, but not limited to, <br />snow removal. <br />
