Pecchia, Public Safety Director <br />Chief of Police <br />MEETING DATE: May 12, 2008 <br />TOPIC: Police Week 2008 <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Police Week was designed to recognize the service given by the men and women who, <br />night and day, selflessly stand guard in our communities to safeguard the lives and <br />property of their fellow Americans. On October 1, 1962, President John F. Kennedy <br />proclaimed May 15 of each year as Peace Officers' Memorial Day and the calendar <br />week of each year during which May 15 occurs as Police Week. <br />Staff is requesting that council acknowledge and read the attached proclamation in our <br />support of designating May 11 to May 17, 2008, as Police Week, and May 15, 2008 as <br />Peace Officers' Memorial Day in the City of Lino Lakes. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Motion to Approve <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1. Proclamation for National Police Week <br />
