We are proud of the fact that <br />our community's businesses cared enough about the success of the Canine Program that collec- <br />tively they donated over $28,000. This support made the creation of our Canine l7nit possible. <br />Officer- Dale Tager and his canine partner -u•e trained in apprehension, tracking. and nar- <br />cotics detection. A contest was held at Rice Lake Elernentary school to name the new canine. <br />Many students entered the contest and the name Recon was the ove'rwhelming choice. Recon <br />was proud to assume his new name. <br />Since it's inception, the Canine [nit has conducted several tracks for people, narcotic <br />detection:activitics, and has assisted our officers in building searches. Recon has also been in- <br />struinental'in providing for the safety of his human partners. In addition, the Canine Unit has <br />given countless presentations in the community to schools, business groups, civic Li mutts, etc. <br />At the 2007 regional trials, Dale and Recon took first place in obedience and fifth place o� era" <br />The Canine ,Unit -has been a positive addition to the Lino Lakes Police Department and the lino <br />Lakes Community: <br />2007- Lino Lakes Police Canine Activity: <br />• 29 Drug related assists in 1.ino Lakes <br />• 29 Non -drug related assists m Lino Lakes <br />136 Training exercises conducted <br />• 16 Canine Demonstrations to over 1,500 people including' National Night Out <br />• 29'assist to other agencies <br />Pissed the Patrol. Don 1 competition in Austin.
