Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: May 27, 2008 <br />TOPIC: Public Hearing: Annual Storm Water Pollution <br />Prevention Program <br />VOTE REQUIRED: N/A <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In compliance with the provisions of the Clean Water Act, as amended, (33 U.S.C. 1251 <br />et. Seq., 40CFR 122, 123 and 124, as amended et seq.); Minnesota Statutes Chapters 115 <br />and 116, as amended, and Minnesota Rules Chapter 7001, the city adopted a Storm Water <br />Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and authorized its submittal to the Minnesota <br />Pollution Control Agency as part of the City's application for enrollment in the State of <br />Minnesota's General National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Phase II Permit <br />Authorizing the City's discharge of storm water. <br />As part of the SWPPP, the City must solicit public input at an annual meeting required <br />under the Public Education and Outreach Plan including: <br />• A presentation about implementation of the City's Surface Water Pollution <br />Prevention Program in 2007. <br />• Affording interested persons an opportunity to make oral statements <br />concerning the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program. <br />• Consideration of relevant written materials that interested persons submit <br />concerning the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program. <br />• Consideration of public input in making adjustments to the 2008 <br />implementation plan for the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends closing the public hearing. <br />
