June 30, 2008 Page 4 Conflicts of Interest Our firm is aware of no conflicts of interest relative to serving as Lino Lakes' city prosecutors. Billing Format We bill monthly, usually within seven to ten days following the end of the month. Our billing system is computerized and very flexible if you wish us to adapt to any format that the City desires. Billing We would propose to charge an hourly rate of $105.00 per hour for attorney's time and $48.00 per hour for paralegal time. Our minimum billing increments are $10.50 for attorney time and $4.80 for paralegal time. It has been our practice in the past to make extensive use of legal assistants since, in the area of misdemeanor prosecutions, there is extensive work that does not need direct lawyer involvement other than supervision. The criminal law experience of our legal assistants has substantially reduced the prosecution costs that our clients would have had to pay. We would also be willing to consider a flat monthly retainer for criminal prosecution. We fmd this method to be beneficial to our clients who would like to better be able to budget for prosecutorial services. Should the City of Lino Lakes wish to choose a flat retainer option for criminal prosecution, we would propose to charge $12,154.00 per month. This figure is based upon our past 20 plus years of representation of the City of Lino Lakes for prosecution services, and knowledge as to the amount of time and resources necessary to properly and efficiently represent the City's criminal prosecution interests. While there is no minimum length of contract that we would require, we would guarantee that the legal rates quoted above would not increase more than four percent (4 %) in any one year if we were to enter into a three year contract with the City.
