Specialized Police Units <br />There are four part-time Community Service Officers. In 2008, their <br />duties expanded from the standard ordinance enforcement and animal <br />complaint handling to direct involvement in COP / POP. Each CSO <br />was assigned to a specific geographical team and tasked with crime <br />prevention projects that provided opportunities for greater positive <br />contacts with the residents and business owners. The CSO's also <br />spend part of their hours assisting the front office staff. They enter <br />records, transcribe tapes, and prepare investigative files. <br />Other responsibilities include: public fingerprinting, police depart- <br />ment tours, ordinance and parking enforcement, prisoner transport, <br />traffic control, public assist calls, prisoner monitoring, animal <br />complaints, vehicle lockouts, and child passenger seat safety checks. <br />Animal Control -The City of Lino Lakes enforces the <br />animal control laws by utilizing the Community Service <br />Officers. <br />The duties of Animal Control include investigating <br />barking dog complaints, animals at large, animal annoy- <br />ance complaints, animal bites, abuse, assisting with dan- <br />gerous or injured animals and enforcement. The city <br />renewed their contract with Otter Lake Animal Care <br />Center in Lino Lakes to provide animal services. <br />The department responded to the following Animal <br />Control related incidents in 2008: <br />Total Incidents -289 <br />Dog Bites -13 <br />Barking dog complaints -40 <br />Dog at Large Complaints -130 <br />Dogs impounded -54 <br />Code Enforcement - Officers and CSO's are responsible <br />for code enforcement. <br />Code Violations Enforced in 2008 <br />Blight 13 <br />Fireworks 21 <br />Illegal Burning 28 <br />Illegal Dumping 8 <br />Junk Vehicle 51 <br />Noise Complaints 63 <br />CSO Jon Gray <br />CSO Matt Paulson <br />CSO Kristen Wills <br />CSO Isaac Tuma <br />22 <br />
