4. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EVALUATION <br />ACCOMPLISHED: <br />• EDAC participation on the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Panel <br />• Completion of a draft Comprehensive Plan currently under council <br />review <br />PURPOSE: <br />TIME FRAME: <br />STRATEGY: <br />Periodic review and evaluation of city policies, plans and <br />procedures to ensure the mechanisms available to the city are <br />implementing the city's objective to strengthen the tax base. <br />1. Support the city council in a periodic review of the city's Land <br />Use, Transportation, Utilities and Growth Management Plan to <br />determine if adjustments are necessary to meet the city's <br />goals and objectives. <br />2. Participate in ordinance review that is relevant to economic <br />development upon approval of the Comprehensive Plan <br />3. Encourage the involvement of citizens and business owners in <br />public discussions if it is determined that periodic strategy <br />realignment is necessary. <br />4. Develop criteria for evaluating prospective development so <br />that EDAC and the city council can work together to balance <br />the rights of property owners, residents and developers in <br />order to achieve development that improves the community as <br />a whole. <br />PROJECTED RESULTS: <br />Effective management practices that protect the city's natural <br />resources, achieve economic sustainability and maintain high <br />standards for growth and development. <br />• <br />• <br />12 • <br />
