Studenski, City Engineer October 26, 2009 TOPIC: Public Hearing, Pine Street Paving Improvement Project ACTION REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote BACKGROUND At the September 28, 2009 City Council Meeting Resolution No. 09 -71 accepted the Pine Street Paving Improvements Feasibility Report and called for a Public Hearing. Resolution No. 09 -71 also states that the City Council will consider the improvement of such street in accordance with the report and the assessment of abutting property for the portion of the cost of the improvement pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 429 and City Charter at an estimated total cost of the improvement of $398,500 for the paving of Pine Street from Lake Drive to 4th Avenue / Jodrell Street. The City of Columbus will pay for half (50 %) of the total cost of the improvement, therefore the Lino Lakes share is $189,250. Attached are the proposed assessments for the Paving of Pine Street from Lake Drive to 4th Avenue. The City of Columbus is going through their process. City staff will continue to work with City of Columbus staff on a Joint Powers Agreement for this project. The next step in the process is to close the Public Hearing. The City must allow 60 days to elapse following the Public Hearing before any further action can be taken on the proposed project as required by the City Charter. RECOMMENDATION Staff-recommends closing the Public Hearing.
