ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 28, 2001 <br />canopy layer of the trees. The fire is "topped." To prevent this from occurring, keep the <br />trees trimmed up off the ground so a fire does not travel up the tree. <br />Asleson reiterated that the Environmental Board and the Planning and Zoning needed to <br />agree on this issue. O'Connell agreed and asked if Asleson could go with Mr. Bennett to <br />the Planning and Zoning meeting, or they may only hear the first part of the issues. <br />Donlin pointed out that Mr. Bennett is fair-minded and well presented and could clear the <br />issue up with a balanced view for the City. <br />C. Environmental Board Goals 2001/Member Responsibilities — Chair Lanyon asked the <br />Board to identify the kinds of activities they would want to do to meet the goals. <br />Trehus asked if the goals would be on the agenda each month. Chair Lanyon answered <br />yes. He had drafted a resolution asking the City Council to have the Environmental <br />Board review the Comprehensive Plan before the Council finalized it. <br />Grundhofer noted that it would be finalized by the end of March. She Basked if another <br />meeting was needed. <br />Chair Lanyon explained the timeline was moving quickly, and coriiinents ,from the <br />Environmental Board were not requested. Chair <br />Lanyon agreed that this was a clear statement'tie'oard :wants it resolved. <br />s <br />L ^f <br />Grundhofer moved to adopt the resolution. O, Connell seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />Ev k, <br />City Councilmember Donna„Garlson mentioned the next work session on the <br />Comprehensive Plan would bd o ,SaThrdaymorning, and input could be given from 8-9 <br />Grundhofer offered to: attend the meeting. <br />Ms. Carlson explained the Comprehensive Plan refers to the Handbook for <br />Environmental Planning -and Conservation Development. <br />4. <br />Chair Lanyon read: ie resolution that had passed. Ms. Carlson indicated that revisions <br />were starting to come back, and that it would not go to Council until later. <br />Chair Lanyon noted that since the inventory was finished before the Comprehensive Plan, <br />the Board wants to give input to the Council concerning the Plan. Trehus concurred it did <br />not have the scope to mention the details of the concerns being addressed by the Board. <br />8 <br />
