Ms. <br />Bor suggested using a natural fill with more color, flowers, etc. Ms. DeHaven <br />stated hostas would work in the shaded areas Ms. Klaman stated they should <br />complement what is already out there. <br /> <br />It was stated that maintaining the trees is an important consensus of the Board. <br />The trees should remain as is and every attempt be made to maintain the root <br />system. <br /> <br />Ms. Bor stated we do not want to contribute to storm water flow, irrigation <br />systems, etc. <br /> <br />Ms. O’Dea suggested changing the island as the tree cover grows. Adapt to the <br />surroundings and make changes when necessary to accommodate. <br /> <br />Ms. DeHaven suggested using Rugosa Roses. Mr. Asleson stated they are planted <br />by the sidewalk and are very hearty. <br /> <br />Ms. Bor questioned which company made the recommendations for the plantings <br />on the island. Mr. Asleson stated Brauer & Associated, Ltd. <br /> <br />It was suggested that the Environmental Board will monitor the island and keep it <br />up to date monthly. <br /> <br />Board members stated they agree to the eyebrow plan from Brauer & Associates. <br />The Board would like a closer look at what is being planted at next meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Heiskary stated a lot of nonsense to put staff out there and waste time on this. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated in the next weeks he with email suggestions for the “eye brow” <br />plantings on the island. <br /> <br />It was recommended to plant the donated Chestnut tree seeds on island. <br /> <br />Ms. Andrzejewski made a Motion to forward recommendations to the City <br />Council. Ms. Klaman seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />G. Add: Community Garden Plot prices for 2012 <br /> <br />There was a short discussion on the Community Garden plot amount for 2012. It <br />was decided the plot amount will be $15.00 <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson was asked to contact the man from Columbus to see if he would be <br />willing to donate compost to the gardens again this year. <br />
