ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING APRIL 25, 2007 <br /> <br />A. Comprehensive Plan Draft Goals and Strategies <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala was present to update the board on the first phase of the <br />Comprehensive Plan process. The advisory panel has been meeting over the past <br />two months. <br /> <br />Ms. O’Dea noted on page 11 of the Draft Goals and Strategies, under Strategies, <br />the SHEP program information should be included. Board members discussed the <br />wording to be used. It was decided that the following language would be added <br />to the Draft Goals & Strategies document on page 11 under Strategies: 4. <br />Continue to support programs that utilize environmental best practices. <br /> <br />Ms. O’Dea noted on page 4 of the Draft Goals and Strategies, under Goal 3, add <br />#8. Encourage the use of green building techniques. <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala stated the word “new” will be added under sewered section. Under <br />the current zoning ordinance, we will not rezone any property or industrial district <br />unless public sewer and water are available. Another change will be that <br />commercial, industrial and institutional buildings or any type of building of that <br />magnitude will also be covered by this. <br /> <br />Ms. O’Dea asked the board members if there were any other questions. There <br />were none. Ms. O’Dea stated the document is very well put together. <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala stated that the format will continue to be changed and updated with <br />new information. <br /> <br />B. Arbor Day, Recycle Day and Earth Day <br /> <br />Arbor Day - Arbor will take place April 27, 2007 at Lino Lakes Elementary <br />School at 2:00 p.m. Mayor Bergeson will present the Tree City Award and give <br />the proclamation. There will be a tree plated and dedicate to the teacher from <br />Blue Heron Elementary who passed away in an automobile accident this year. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated that if other schools want to participate in Arbor Day, he is <br />open to doing this. <br /> <br />Recycle Day – Lino Lakes Recycle Day is scheduled to take place from 9:00 a.m. <br />to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5. This will be the only recycle day of the year for <br />the city. Mr. Asleson stated that if there are board members who would like to <br />volunteer to help they could come at anytime during scheduled hours. <br /> <br />Ms. Brouillet mentioned that Walter’s Recycling has donated a dumpster for <br />recycling day. <br /> <br />3 DRAFT MINUTES
