ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 25, 2009 <br /> <br /> Step 8: Inspection, Maintenance and Evaluation = Provide maintenance training <br />to landowners and continued project tracking and monitoring. <br /> <br />Other Retrofit Types: <br />Pond modification <br />Roadway crossing storage <br />Conveyance system treatment <br />Parking Lots <br />Individual streets <br />Underground <br /> <br />Ms. O’Dea questioned who will pay for this? Mr. Asleson stated landowner <br />cooperation, cost share funds from Anoka County and State of Minnesota. Mr. <br />Asleson stated we don’t have a stormwater utility fund at this time. Ms. Bor <br />questioned if there would be a tax break. Mr. Zwonitzer stated there is cost share <br />available up to $5,000. Ms. Bor questioned if this is a collaboration with the Rice <br />Creek Watershed District. Mr. Zwonitzer stated yes. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown questioned if residents could use pavers for their driveways. Mr. <br />Zwonitzer stated yes, but a very expensive option. The cost is $20-$25 per square <br />foot. Mr. Zwonitzer stated if a resident was redoing their driveway, they could <br />install a trench grate which is flush with the new asphalt driveway and a rain <br />garden connected to that. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated if Mr. Zwonitzer would come back when this project is further <br />along. Mr. Zwonitzer yes. <br /> <br />B. Updates <br /> <br />Recycle Bank <br />Mr. Asleson received information from Allied Waste regarding a RecycleBank <br />program. He reviewed the information with the board. <br /> <br />Ms. O’Dea questioned if this program is exclusive with Allied Waste. Mr. <br />Asleson state, at this time it is. <br /> <br />Earth Day <br />Mr. Asleson stated Earth Day will be celebrated on April 18. Wargo Nature <br />Center will be open to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will not be a <br />lunch or a petting zoo for volunteers this year. <br /> <br />Ms. Bor requested we look into purchasing new, brighter shirts this year for Earth <br />Day and Blue Heron Days clean-up.
